Hotel Lifehacks
Since the hotel is not in a walking district, downloading ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab is absolutely essential. These apps are the lifeline of transport in Indonesia. You can use them to order a car (Gocar/GrabCar) to get to Malioboro cheaply, or to order a motorbike taxi (Gojek) to zip through traffic. Even more usefully, you can use "GoFood" or "GrabFood" to have famous local dishes, like Gudeg Yu Djum or Bakpia, delivered right to the hotel lobby if you are too tired to go out.
Try to request a room on one of the upper floors during check-in. On clear mornings, you may be lucky to catch a glimpse of the majestic Mount Merapi volcano far north in the distance. This is one privilege view Sleman area has that makes waking up early worth it! In contrast, avoid lower floor rooms toward the main street if you are sensitive to noise because morning traffic in Jogja starts very early.
Finally, check out that indoor pool. Yogyakarta is blazing hot and sticky most of the time then comes the afternoon with its typical tropical downpour. An indoor pool means no sunburn, no rain- you can actually swim! It’s a great facility for families with kids who want to play in the water safely or adults wanting to do some serious laps after a sweaty day cooling off at Borobudur or Prambanan temples.
